Wealden Talking News is a registered charity producing weekly tapes of news taken from the local papers.
It produces 4 editions each week covering different areas of East Sussex - Heathfield area; Crowborough & Uckfield; Hailsham & Polegate; Seaford & Newhaven, as well as three tape magazines each month.
Anyone who is unable to read a newspaper due to sight problems can receive the Talking News free of charge. We currently have around 300 listeners. We are unfortunately unable to offer the service to other than sight impaired listeners because of restrictions imposed by the Post Office on their Articles for the Blind service.
We have around 70 volunteers who give their time freely in our studio in Heathfield.
We rely entirely on donations from the public and local businesses, and fundraising events including an annual street collection. If you know of anyone who could benefit from our service or who would like to be a volunteer, please print out the appropriate application form, fill it in and send to:
